Commissioners add deputies at courthouse

By by Dean Dyer
CLEVELAND - White County Commissioners have taken steps to provide additional security at the White County Courthouse in Cleveland. The commissioners Tuesday night approved adding two sheriff's deputies to work full time at the courthouse.

In addition commissioners agreed to hire a security consultant to do an audit of the security need at the courthouse and make recommendations. Commission Chairman Chris Nonnemaker says he feels they are moving in the right direction and this is in addition to other security measures they have implemented over the last couple of years.

Ron Ice with Safe Tech Securities will come up with a list of security items that need to be addressed and assist the county in implementing them.

This comes a week after White County Sheriff Neal Walden cited concerns that the courthouse was unsafe.
