Weekend work will close Bell's Mill Bridge

GAINESVILLE - Get ready for more traffic delays on Cleveland Highway north of Gainesville.

Motorists will not be able to use a stretch of the road this weekend as the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) gets ready to rebuild Bell's Mill Bridge. Spokeswoman Teri Pope says the bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday while crews from the Gaineville Public Utilities Department re-locate water lines.

Pope says motorists will have to use Clarks Bridge Road as a detour.

Traffic in that area has been impacted for several months - mostly at night - because of the reconstruction of Longstreet Bridge, which is just south of Bell's Mill.
