Storms batter N.E. Georgia

GAINESVILLE - Strong thunderstorms blew through Gainesville and other parts of northeast Georgia Monday night but left behind few reports of any damage.

Hall and several other counties were under severe thunderstorm warnings for a time, but all the warnings had expired by about 10:00.

The storms were accompanied by strong, gusty winds and vivid lightning.

They did cause some minor street flooding and downed tree limbs.

Rainfall recorded by the Accessnorthga.com Weather Center totaled 1.36 inches. The strongest wind gust was 29 m.p.h., and at one point, rain was falling at the rate of 14.40 inches per hour.

Other parts of North Georgia were also hit.
