Strong winds bring change in weather

GAINESVILLE - Plummeting temperatures, brisk winds, snow flurries and occasional sleet greeting commuters in the Gainesville area Tuesday morning.

Temperatures plunged 13 degrees in four hours, according to the accessnorthga.com Weather Center - dipping to 39 by 8:30.

Winds gusted to 30 mph - pushing wind chills below freezing.

Sporadic bursts of snow flurries and sleet also occurred but caused no problems. That was not the case with the wind: trees were reported down in at least three Hall County neighborhoods.

Windy conditions are expected all day and temperatures are not expected to get out of the 40s, but no more precipitation is expected. A warming trend will follow the rest of the week, with highs approaching 70s by the weekend.
