ATLANTA - A graveside service for retired Gainesville businessman Carl Loef will be held Friday in Atlanta. <br>

Loef died Tuesday at the age of 89. <br>
<br>
A native of Spartanburg, S.C., he moved to Gainesville in 1946, where he opened Gainesville Scrap Iron and Metal. <br>
<br>
Loef was also known for his love of Gainesville High School athletics. <br>
<br>
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 Friday at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs. (A complete obituary is listed elsewhere on this site.) <br>
