Brenau Clothesline project

GAINESVILLE - Brenau University this year joined in participating in a 15-year-old national program that draws attention to violence against women.

The Clothesline Project (CLP) is a program started on Cape Cod, Mass. in 1990 to address the issue. It is a vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt. They then hang the shirt on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women.

This year, spearheaded by Dr. Heather Casey, associate professor and director of Brenau's Women's Center, Student Counseling Services and the Brenau DIVAS joined the growing number of participants in the fight against violence to women by hosting Brenau's own CLP Feb. 14.

The display hangs from the gazebo near the Tea Room.
