Longstreet Bridge work delayed again

GAINESVILLE - There's been another delay in the planned lane closures on Longstreet Bridge on Cleveland Highway north of Gainesville.

This time the work - scheduled to begin Sunday night - is being delayed by the weather. An earlier delay was attributed to a late delivery of materials.

The work is now set to begin next Thursday.

State Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope says the contractor will have four months to complete the replacement of the bridge decking and handrail.
