Marine wounded with Oakwood leatherneck back home

By by Ken Stanford
ATLANTA - A marine from Powder Springs, wounded in Iraq in the same attack that left an Oakwood Marine critically wounded, arrived at the Atlanta airport Wednesday night to the cheers of family, friends and others.

Lance Corporal David Payton had been recovering in the same Texas hospital where Matt Turner of Oakwood is hospitalized.

Payton tells the Georgia News Network he still has not completely recovered from his injuries. Among other things, he says he still can't see well.

Turner remains in critical condition at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He suffered some burns but the most critical of his injuries are to his lungs because of chemical fumes he inhaled following an explosion during the attack.
