GSC to celebrate life, legacy of James Dunlap

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville State College to host A Celebration of the Life and Legacy of James A. "Bubba" Dunlap next month.<br> <br> On Wednesday, November 2, GSU faculty and staff along with community members will gather at 11:45 a.m. for a light lunch and at 12:30 p.m. the Celebration program will begin in the Continuing Education/Performing Arts Center Auditorium.<br> <br> Dunlap, who died two weeks ago, served as the Chairman of the Board of Regents and was instrumental in the establishment of then Gainesville Junior College in 1964. James Mathis, Sr., Sid Smith, Loyd Strickland, and Dr. Hugh Mills will be among those who will speak of his many accomplishments and the impact he has had on our community.<br> <br> "Gainesville State College will always be indebted to Mr. Dunlap for his unfailing support and loyalty throughout the years. The Dunlap/Mathis Building and the James A. Dunlap University Center, dedicated in December, 2002, will stand as lasting tributes to his far reaching legacy at Gainesville State College and beyond," stated Gainesville State College President Martha T.
