Gainesville jobless rate up

GAINESVILLE - The jobless rates in metro Gainesville and the Georgia Mountains Region are up slightly.

State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond says the rates increased by two-tenths of a percent.

The Gainesville jobless rate is now at 4.5 percent; in the mountains area, which includes Gainesville, the new rate is 4.3 percent.

Of the 13 counties that make up the region, only one shows a decline in the unemployment rate - Dawson, which fell a tenth-of-a-percent to 3.8.
