600+ customers affected by East Hall power outage

GAINESVILLE - Power has been restored to a section of eastern Hall County that was left in the dark about 7:30 Wednesday morning.

Georgia Power officials say the outage, which lasted about 50 minutes, was caused when a tree fell across a powerline.

Gainesville Georgia Power District Manager Darrell Snyder said the dead tree was being cut down by a tree cutter under contract to a private individual.

Snyder said the tree-cutting was taking place in Sunset Heights Subdivision, several miles from the affected area, but that the lines it hit serve a substation for the East Hall area.
