State School Supt spending a lot of time in NE Georgia

UNDATED - State Schools Superintendent Kathy Cox toured school systems in Northeast Georgia Wednesday and Tuesday as part of her Border Tour 2004 - and, as we were first to report several weeks ago, will be in Gainesville next week as part of another event.

The tour literally took Cox "around" the state, stopping in all of the school systems located on the outside borders of Georgia.

Over the past two days, she visited schools in Fannin, Union, Towns, and Rabun counties.

Next Wednesday, Cox will visit Gainesville Elementary School as part of the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education's 12th annual Bus Trip Across Georgia. Also as part of the tour, she'll stop at Jack P. Nix Primary School in Cleveland and Lumpkin County High School in Dahlonega.

Earlier this week, Cox and Governor Sonny Perdue were at East Hall High School in Gainesville as part of the Governor's Cup tour of the state. East Hall and four other schools were presented Governor's Cups in recognition of their improved SAT scores.
