Hall gets $297,675 state grant award

ATLANTA - Hall County is one of 79 recipients statewide of Community Development Block Grant awards.

The Hall County grant is for $297,675 and is to used for housing improvements.

Elsewhere in Northeast Georgia, White County is getting $500,000 for water improvements; Banks County is getting a like amount for a learning center; and, another $500,000 is going to Ellijay for sewer improvements.

Governor Sonny Perdue made the announcement Wednesday.

The grant program is administered by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), utilizing funds allocated through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and focuses on improving living conditions and economic opportunities in cities and counties throughout the state.

"Thanks to this grant program, assistance will be provided to our state's rural communities that are working hard to help low and moderate-income citizens," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "These awards will help with a variety of important projects and create job opportunities for rural Georgians."
