Flowery Branch City Manager resigning

By by Ken Stanford
FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch City Manager Tim Gillette confirmed Thursday morning that he is resigning after less than four months on the job.

Gillette, who was hired in April to replace Dennis Bergin, said in his letter of resignation he is stepping down because "it has become clear...that Mayor and Council and I do not share the same vision concerning the best management practices needed in preparing the City of Flowery Branch to meet the growth challenges the City will face in the future."

He would not comment Thursday morning beyond the text of the letter, which is posted in full at the end of this story.

Gillette, who came to Flowery Branch from Kingsland, Georgia, where he served as city manager, said Thursday morning he serves at the pleasure of the mayor and council but plans to stay on the job until a successor is found.
