Buford agency gets federal grant

WASHINGTON - President Bush recently announced 145 grants to faith and community-based
organizations - includng one in Buford - that provide services and support
to youth, couples and the needy.

Nearly $43 million is being earmarked
through the Compassion Capital Fund.

The recipients include Gwinnett
Children's Shelter, Incorporated, in Buford, which is receiving a $50,000
grant.

Since the program's inception three years ago, $99.5 million have been given to nearly 2,000 organizations nationwide.

The money goes to groups that
provide services and support through soup kitchens, homeless shelters,
drug treatment centers, job training programs, and other programs.
