Bids okayed for construction of new school

GAINESVILLE - Work is expected to begin within the next few weeks on a new Hall County school now that all bids have been approved.

The final set of bids on Chicopee Elementary School were opened earlier this week. School system spokesman Gordon Higgins says it looks like the work can be done within budget.

The school - with an estimated construction cost of $7.5-8 million - will be located on Calvary Church Road about a mile south of the Chicopee Agricultural Center.

The school is expected to be ready for the 2005-2006 school year.
