Latest metro Atlanta bridge jumper dies

<p>A man apparently jumped to his death on Interstate 20 in the sixth occurrence of suicides or threats from Atlanta area highway bridges in the past three months.</p><p>A driver called police around 4:30 p.m. Thursday to say a man had jumped from a bridge, and that report was followed quickly by other drivers reporting they had struck something in the road, DeKalb County Police Sgt. Pat White said.</p><p>Both sides of the interstate were closed for more than an hour. The dead man was not identified Thursday night.</p><p>On June 15, a man threatened to jump from another overpass on I-20 in DeKalb County, hours after a man climbed onto a bridge over the I-75/I-85 Downtown Connector in Atlanta and threatened to hang himself with a rope. Both men were taken into custody.</p><p>On April 7, a man threatened to jump from the same Downtown Connector bridge but eventually surrendered to police.</p><p>A man jumped to his death from yet another Downtown Connector bridge before dawn April 12.</p><p>On May 27, a man who threatened to jump from a bridge over I-75 in Cobb County fell 30 feet as police tried to grab him. He received non-life threatening injuries in the fall.</p><p>Two of the would-be jumpers have been charged.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x2866738)</p>
