Robin Carlisle suit dismissed

GAINESVILLE - A would be candidate for Flowery Branch mayor dismissed her own challenge Friday morning morning in Hall County Superior Court.

Former Flowery Branch council member Robin Carlisle asked to dismiss her own case against Mayor Bryan Puckett in a legal proceeding that took about twenty minutes of the court's time.

City Attorney Robert "Lucky" Chandler said she missed a state deadline to object to her disqualification.

Carlisle was disqualified because she was no longer a city resident and ineligible to run for office in the March 2nd special election.

Carlisle cited personal problems for dismissing the case

She alleged voting and procedural irregularities kept her off the March 2nd ballot but Chandler said she presented no evidence.

"Ms. Carlisle immediately stood up and said she wished to dismiss the challenge she had filed to the election," Flowery Branch City Attorney Robert "Lucky" Chandler said.

Chandler added that Carlisle failed to meet a 10 day state deadline to contest her disqualification.

Chandler called the election challenge a waste of time.

"It was a big waste of the energy and time of the taxpayers of Flowery Branch by a disgruntled person who apparently did not have a basis for her claim," Chandler said.
