GAINESVILLE - A veteran employee of the Hall County Tax Commissioner's Office plans to run for tax commissioner in the Republican Primary this year.

Sandra Knight has been employed by the tax commissioner's office for 25 years and has worked the past 17 as Senior Accounting Clerk.

Incumbent Keith Echols, also a Republican, is completing his first term in office.

Knight says she has raised more than $16,500 for her campaign in just two weeeks.

Citing her 25 years in the Tax office, and her commitment to her "community and conservative Republican values," Knight said she is "uniquely qualified" to take on the responsibility and challenges of running the Commissioner's office.

Knight plans a formal campaign kickoff party sometime in the next few weeks.

Knight, a grandmother of 8, currently serves as President-Elect of the Gainesville Breakfast Optimist Club. She is also a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for neglected and abused children, and is active in the Pondfork Baptist Church.
