Carl Rogers of Gainesville headed to GOP

GAINESVILLE - Democratic State Representative Carl Rogers of Gainesville said Thursday that he will qualify for re-election as a Republican.

"After much careful consideration, I decided to join the party that best reflects my principles and the values of the people of Georgia," said Rogers. "I am proud to join the team led by Governor Perdue and Glenn Richardson."

Rogers was first elected to the House in 1994. A life-long resident of Hall County, Rogers and his wife, Linda, have two children.

Rogers represents the 26th House District, which encompasses much of central Hall County, including the City of Gainesville.

"We are proud to welcome Carl into our party," said Glenn Richardson, the House Republican Leader. "The Republican Party is the fastest growing family in Georgia, and we are honored to have a proven leader such as Carl on our team."

"Changing parties will not affect my principles or the way I vote. However, I feel I can best represent the people of Hall County by aligning with the party that represents common sense northeast Georgia values," concluded Rogers.
