By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - Registration is underway for the City of Gainesville's 3rd Annual Citizens' Government Academy.

The 2004 session will begin March 16 with graduation set for May 18.

All classes are planned on Tuesday evenings 6:30-9:00 - with one Saturday class scheduled March 27 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon.

"The Citizens' Academy is a one-stop shop for citizens who are interested in learning about city services and how they can become involved in city government," said city manager Bryan Shuler. "These classes are the best way we've found to help educate the community on issues like taxes, water quality, and public safety needs."

Applicants must be 21-years-old or older and be a legal citizen of the United States.

Registration forms are available on the city Web site (see below) under "Events" or by calling 770-297-5499. Registration ends March 5.
