Georgia Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond also endorsed Kerry, as did Louisa B. Franklin, the academic dean at Young Harris College in north Georgia. Franklin attended a rally held for Kerry at the airport.
"This is an inclusive effort, and Im proud of those coming to this cause," Kerry said. "And I hope over the course of the next month, many, many more people will."
Earlier this week, John Lewis, a civil rights leader and Georgia's longest-serving current congressman, announced his support of Kerry.
Lewis was the second member of the Georgia congressional delegation to endorse Kerry, joining Rep. Denise Majette, who announced her choice earlier this month.
Seven members of the Georgia Legislature also attended the rally, along with former state Democratic party chairmen Rep. Calvin Smyre and David Worley.
