Stolen truck quickly recovered

GAINESVILLE - It was a short ride for the thief who stole what's described as an antique truck from a Gainesville convenience store early Thursday.

The theft was reported around 4:00 am. Details are sketchy, but apparently the owner had stopped at the store to gas up and while he was inside, the truck, a 1977 GMC pickup, was stolen, according to Gainesville Police.

Hall County sheriff's deputies spotted the vehicle a short time later on I-985, stopped it and arrested the driver.

According to Police Lt. Chad White, 18-year-old Justin Matthew Bennett of Gainesville has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
