Gainesville GDOT chief promoted to Atlanta office

GAINESVILLE - The District Engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation's (GDOT) Gainesville office has been named the department's Director of Administration.

Todd Long has worked with GDOT since 1990 and has been District Engineer for the Gainesville office for about 14 months.

He served in the State Office of Planning until 1994. Long then transferred to the Office of Traffic Operations where he served as Project Manager for a number of Olympic related projects. In 1996, Long transferred to Gainesville as the Northeast Georgia District's Traffic Engineer. He became the District Preconstruction Engineer in 1999 where he managed DOT projects from concept to construction. Todd was promoted to Assistant District Engineer in 2000 while continuing his responsibilities as District Preconstruction Engineer. In 2003, Todd became District Engineer over all DOT activities in 21 counties of Northeast Georgia.

As GDOT Director of Administration, he will oversee and manage statewide administrative services for the Department. His promotion is effective December 15; his successor in Gainesville has not been named.
