GAINESVILLE - Lanier Point Park, west of Gainesville, will be closed most of the winter, starting Wednesday, because of sewer work on Dawsonville Highway.
City officials announced November 20 that the park and boat ramp will be closed for about three months. It is not scheduled to fully reopen until March 1.
They say, however, it will be available for high school baseball and softball practice in February.
While the park is closed, the roads and parking lots in the park will be resurfaced.
