Road work to close Queen City Parkway Tuesday

GAINESVILLE - Road work will require the closing of a portion of Queen City Parkway in Gainesville Tuesday.

Georgia Department of Transportation District Engineer Larry Dent says maintenance crews will be working just south of the intersection with Jesse Jewell Parkway from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

"We have a problem with drainage that has caused potholes (in the road) right in front of the Guesthouse Inn," Dent said. "We are going to do 'exploratory surgery' so to speak on the road...to find what is causing this problem.

Dent said once crews determine the extent of the problem planning of the necessary repairs will begin.

At least two lanes of the busy four-lane highway will be closed and Dent says you should try to avoid the area if at all possible during the work on Tuesday.
