GAINESVILLE - When dove season opens in north Georgia this weekend, hunters in our area will have a new public place to hunt.<br>

A new field at the Wilson Shoals Wildlife Managerment Area in Banks County will open Saturday - and the occasion will be observed with an adult/child dove hunt. <br>
<br>
The adult/child hunt has a quota limit of 25. <br>
It will start at noon, but hunters can arrive early to take advantage of lunch and drinks that will be provided to those selected for the hunt. Also, youth hunters will receive t-shirts and prizes. <br>
<br>
Children 17 years and younger are eligible to apply along with an adult supervisor 18 years or older. <br>
<br>
One adult may supervise up to two children. Hunters age 16 and older must have completed a hunter education course and have a hunting license, migratory bird license, WMA license and Harvest Information Permit (HIP) in order to legally hunt. <br>

To apply for the adult/child dove hunt, call (770) 535-5700 between the dates of Aug. 1-15, 2003. The full names, social security numbers, addresses and dates of birth will be needed for all persons applying. <br>

Wilson Shoals WMA Dove Field is 15 acres in size and was planted with millet, sorghum, wheat, sunflowers and Egyptian wheat. In addition to the adult/child hunt, there will be general hunts at this field from Sept. 7-12 and Dec. 10-Jan. 15. <br>

From Gainesville: Take GA Hwy. 365 north for 11 miles; turn right on Mud Creek Road and go one mile; turn left and go 0.1 miles then turn right on Yonah Road and go 2.1 miles and the area will be on the left. <br>
