Report: $231 million/year to educate 'illegals' in Georgia

By by Ken Stanford
ATLANTA - A new study says it's costing Georgia taxpayers $231 million every year to educate illegal immigrant children.

According to the Georgia News Network, the report is from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and uses U.S. Census data.

It goes on to say the $231 million is enough to eliminate present cuts in state school and university budgets, leaving $181 million to spare. It says that would be enough to restore the jobs of teachers laid off due to budget cuts and to hire another 3,800 teachers.

The director of the study says it shows American school children are paying the cost of the government's failure to control illegal immigration.
