Braselton ties impact fee collection to Hall sewer district

BRASELTON - The City of Braselton wants to exchange impact fee collection for a sewer service district in Hall County. <br> <br> Braselton will begin collecting Hall County impact fees as soon as it gets a sewer service area in Hall County, according to Braselton City Manager Jennifer Scott.<br> <br> Scott notes Braselton could only collect $6,000 in SPLOST V revenues, but a sewer district would benefit Hall County.<br> <br> Scott estimates Braselton would collect over $500,000 in impact fees for the county, since development follows sewer lines.<br> <br> Hall County cities face collecting the fees or possiblly losing out on SPLOST V money.<br> <br> Scott said Braselton sees an opportunity here.<br> <br> Braselton has been providing sewer service to its annexed part of Hall County since 1999. Any proposed sewer service district is in the area to be served by the Lanier Waste Water Technology Authority. But, Scott said Braselton provides sewer and the Authority does not, at least not yet.<br> <br> Hall County, Gainesville and 50 percent of its other cities would have to approve the Braselton offer.
