New information on departure of Buford priest

BUFORD - There are allegations that the departure of a priest at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Buford may be connected to a rift between him and another departed priest.

Father John Anderson said a week ago he needed some time off to deal with being abused as a child.

But, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Rev. Sergio Calle-Perez, who left the parish a few weeks ago, says Anderson's statements from the pulpit a week ago when were a "ploy to gain sympathy." Anderson was not available for comment on the allegations.

However, over the weekend, parishioners at the church were told Anderson will not be returning to the church at the end of his leave of absence; a statement from Anderson said media coverage of his departure had made it impossible for him to return.
