ATLANTA - Authorities say part of Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport was briefly evacuated Monday, apparently after pepper spray was released near a ticket counter.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the release appeared to be an accident.
Two people were taken to the hospital complaining of eye irritation.
About 100 people were evacuated from the north terminal about 3:30 p.m. The terminal was open again less than an hour later.
The release apparently happened near a ticket counter, in an area where passengers can choose to have their checked baggage wrapped in cellophane. It happened near the American Airlines and Air Jamaica counters.
Atlanta police are investigating.
