New Lanier Tech president expects smooth transition

By by Ken Stanford
OAKWOOD - The new president of Lanier Tech says he expects a smooth transition as he moves from a technical college in a rural, farm-based area to an area with a fast-growing industrial-based economy.

Dr. Michael Moye says one of his first acts will be to invite business leaders to the school to show those who may not know what services it provides.

"And, it'll give me a chance to listen to them to find out what kinds of needs they have."

Dr. Moye said he decided to accept the job because Gainesville and Lanier Tech have so much to offer.

"Gainesville is a beautiful part of the state and Lanier Technical College has so much potential," he said. "It's a great college and it's poised to take off and grow even larger in the future."

Dr. Moye is currently president of Moultrie Tech and will assume the Lanier Tech post next month.

He commented Friday, one day after he was appointed to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Joe Hill last fall.
