Lumpkin murder case back to grand jury

By by Ken Stanford
DAHLONEGA - A Lumpkin County Grand Jury is expected to hear new evidence in a murder case when it convenes February 25.

Ryan Patrick Edmunds has already been indicted once, but was found incompetent to stand trial last August.

Now, after several months of psychiatric treatment, he has been declared fit to aid in his defense.

Edmunds is accused of the May 2001 beating death of Herman Wilder.

The state is expected to present new evidence to the grand jury it will ask to re-indict Edmunds.
