Department promotes Garner to Lieutenant
Barrow County Emergency Services recently promoted Marty Garner to the rank of Lieutenant. After completing his testing, Lieutenant Garner was promoted and assigned to Station 4 on B Shift. “Marty brings a lot of experience and training to this position,” stated Chief Skinner. “He will do a good job in his new role.”

Gainesville Woman to compete at USA power lifting national championships
Emily Vinson House competed in her first power lifting competition called Powerlifting for Pups in Atlanta on Saturday. This was a meet where she could qualify for the National Championships. In order for her to qualify for the national championships, she needed to lift a total of 570lbs spread across three exercises – Squat, Bench press, and Dead Lift.
