Dawson County ran its win streak to four with a 13-8 win over Wesleyan in a big win on the road to open the two teams’ three-game Region 7-3A series.

Johnson won its second straight Region 8-4A match with a 10-0 rout of Cedar Shoals on Tuesday at The Dungeon.

Four northeast Georgia teams, boys and girls combined, are ranked No. 1 in their respective classifications and all four will be in action on Tuesday.

Regions 7-3A and 8-2A will be in full swing on Tuesday.

East Forsyth got a solid outing from Trey Farr and some timely hitting from the offense in taking an 8-1, Region 8-4A North win over Chestatee on Monday at home.

Over the past two seasons for sure, the Chestatee baseball team has been one of the best in the state to NOT make the state playoffs.

Pending an Executive Committee vote, the Georgia High School Association is expected to name Dalton Public Schools superintendent Tim Scott as its next executive director.

Region 8-4A, along with every other region involving northeast Georgia area teams, will be in action this week as the races for playoff positioning heats up. Ten important region matchups will begin on Monday.

The North Hall baseball team will have to forfeit its entire non-region schedule after discovering an ineligible player.

Top-ranked Johnson continued to flex its defensive muscles, taking a 4-1 win over East Forsyth on Friday in Region 8-4A action at The Dungeon.
