Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Wilbur Rakestraw passed away Wednesday, May 7 of congestive heart failure. Rakestraw, of Dallas, GA, was born on June 6, 1928.
Rakestraw came from a family of racers. He began his career at the Dallas Speed Bowl piloting a 1937 Ford. Rakestraw would remain a longtime Ford loyalist, often racing cars with the number 999, in honor of Henry Ford

CARTERSVILLE - Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL still sits atop of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings after turning in his sixth top five finish of the season on Saturday night in Week 6 action at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Gauldin finished third in the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to bring his season total to 291 points.

Josh Weston had scored four straight second place finishes in the Hunter Sand and Gravel Pro Late Model division at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in Nashville, TN dating back to October of last season. However, Saturday was finally the day for the Mount Juliet native as he picked up his first career Pro Late Model victory.

TOCCOA - Kenny Collins proved to be the man to beat Friday night at Toccoa Speedway in Toccoa, GA, as he outdistanced Frankie Beard to pick up the Crate Late Model victory.

HARTWELL - For the second week in a row Monroe, GA's Jimmy Johnson took home a win at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA with a victory in the Limited Late Model feature Saturday night.

BATESVILLE, AR - Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL drove the High Roller Race Cars Special to his second career NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Batesville Motor Speedway win on Saturday night, as he defended his Ozark Nationals title at the Batesville, AR track. McRee made the top groove work for him to come from the fourth spot to take the point on lap 14, and lead the rest of the way.
