The Lanier Christian Academy football team rallied to a 14-13 and beat Cherokee Christian in the GAPPS State Championship game last week at Johnson High.
Buford, Cherokee Bluff, Jefferson and North Hall all advanced to the quarterfinals in their respective classifications, setting up some marquee matchups in the second round.
Second-ranked Buford beat No. 8 Lowndes the same way the Wolves have beaten teams for the last two decades – with their tough running game and physical defense.
