DAHLONEGA — White County took over first place in Region 7-3A with a thrilling 58-57 win in overtime over Class 3A No. 1 Lumpkin County on Tuesday night on the road at Lynn Cottrell Court.
The Lady Warriors (6-7, 5-0 Region 7-3A) trailed by as many as six in the overtime but stormed back in the final minute.
Naomi Roberts hit two free throws to break a tie and give White County a 58-56 lead. But a technical foul call with 3.5 seconds left gave the Lady Indians (11-4, 4-1 Region 7-3A) a chance to tie and win the game. But Lumpkin was only able to convert on one of the two free throws and White County denied the Lady Indians the game-winner at the buzzer.
The game was a back-and-forth affair most of the way. The teams traded the lead early with White County taking a 28-25 lead at halftime. It stayed close throughtout but the Lady Indians had a chance to win it at the end of regulation. However, the White County defense also denied them a chance and it went to the extra period.
Roberts paced White County with 23 points. Dasha Cannon added 14 points, Maddie Futch had 11, and Caitlyn Gailey 10 points for the Lady Warriors.

Chestatee (8-8, 1-4 Region 8-4A) got a big game from Emma Easterwood with 17 points and 5 assists. Logan Wiggins continued her strong play of late pouring in 14 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. Bowen Corley had 11 points, Annie Dollyhigh had 9 points and Riley Black added 8 points and 8 rebounds for the Lady War Eagles.
Chestatee next will play host to No. 7 Cedar Shoals in another big region showdown on Friday.
COMMERCE 39,
TOWNS COUNTY 37
Maggie Mullis hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 51 seconds left to give the Lady Tigers the lead and they eventually held on for a Region 8-A Public win on the road.
Carson Hobbs paced Commerce with 16 points. Mullis finished with 10 points for the Lady Tigers
Sarah Shook led Towns County with 15 points.

The Lady Lightning used a stellar defensive effort to take a big win on Tuesday.
LCA swiped 11 steals for the game to help fuel the offense.
Lexie Robertson led LCA with 9 points and 4 rebounds; Lily Martin added 6 points and 4 rebounds for the Lady Lightning.
LCA also dished out 13 assists as a team.

The Red Elephants (9-7, 0-5 Region 6-7A) struggled to find offense in the loss against North Forsyth at Raider Arena on Tuesday.
North Forsyth wasn't much better early in the first half but took advantage of Gainesville turnovers in the first half to eventually distance themselves by half 23-10.
Gainesville's offensive woes continue to in the third quarter only netting a bucket, while the Lady Raiders added 19 points to the board. The Lady Raiders were well in control after 24 minutes of play, 42-12.
Anna Gliatta led the Lady Raiders with 13 points and Meredith Franklin had 10.
Lauren Teasley with 10 points, 8 in the first quarter.

Ava Grace Watson poured in 12 points and Tamori Plantin added 10 to lead Buford (10-0, 2-0 Region 8-6A) past the Lady Bulldoggs on the road Tuesday.
Sara Viti scored 9 points in the win.
