Cornelia fire officials received aid from surrounding departments in responding to calls for a restaurant kitchen fire on Tuesday night.

A release from Cornelia Fire Department (FD) reported that they were called to the Wendy's restaurant at 1082 Level Grove Road at 8:32 p.m. on Tuesday and arrived a few minutes later to find smoke coming from the structure.

Additional units from the City of Baldwin, City of Demorest and Habersham County's Emergency Services were called to aid in coverage of the fire, while was found to be coming from the kitchen area.  The Cornelia FD release said the fire was contained and under control at around 8:40 p.m.

Cause for the fire is believed to be from grease accumulation from a kitchen appliance that was ignited by reaching combustible temperatures.  No injuries were reported, with the extent of damage to the restaurant not reported.  Fire officials secured the restaurant and fire scene and cleared the area by 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.
