Stackhouse, who said he didn't get the ball enough in the fourth quarter of Thursday's loss to Detroit, started the final period with a 3-pointer after the Hawks cut the Wizards' lead to one. He added a pair of free throws and an emphatic one-handed driving dunk in a decisive 13-4 run that put Washington ahead by 10 with 5 minutes left.
Stackhouse recovered from a 3-for-12 first half to finish 8-for-21 from the field, and 11-for-14 from the free-throw line. He was 3-for-4 from the field and 8-for-10 from the line in the fourth quarter.
Tyronn Lue added 13 points for the Wizards, and Michael Jordan had 10 points and five assists.
The Hawks, playing their second game under new coach Terry Stotts, failed to capitalize on the momentum from Friday night's buzzer-beater victory over San Antonio. They lost their ninth straight road game, falling to 2-13 away from home.
Jason Terry led Atlanta with 22 points and seven rebounds. Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks, who entered tied with Washington and Milwaukee for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Hawks made the first shot of the game to take their only lead of the night.
They missed their next 12 shots as Stackhouse led the Wizards to 15-2 lead. Mike Wilks then hit a 3-pointer, and Robinson followed with two long jumpers for an 8-0 run that kept the first quarter from becoming an embarrassment.
Abdur-Rahim and Terry scored 18 of Atlanta's 20 points in the second quarter. Abdur-Rahim had a 6-0 run by himself late in the half, and Terry's running baseline dunk cut the Wizards lead to 38-36 at the break.
NOTES: Abdur-Rahim became the fifth-youngest player to score 10,000 points. He is 26 years, 17 days old. The youngest four were all 25: Bob McAdoo, Shaquille O'Neal, Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. ... Stotts made a lineup change in his first game Friday, starting Wilks at shooting guard instead of Ira Newble. Newble was back as a starter Saturday, but he played only six minutes to Wilks' 34. ``I kind of have four starters, and that's the only position where I can change things up a little bit,'' Stotts said.
