Second murder suspect arrested behind late-April shooting death of Gwinnett County teen

Gainesville Police officials say a Gillsville man has been arrested in connection to the April 27, 2024 murder of a Gwinnett Count teen.

Gainesville Police Lieutenant Kevin Holbrook says investigators arrested 18-year old Quaran Jamir Jackson at his home without incident this week as the second suspect wanted behind the mruder of a juvenile, previously identified at 16-year odl Jaishawn Overstreet of Gwinnett County.

Jackson faces felony murder and aggravated assualt charges stemming from the April 27, 2024 incident where police say he and another suspect, Ja'quez Jeremiah Marquis Sims, were allegedly involved in an altercation with Overstreet that became violent.  Overstreet died from apparent gunshot wounds at the scene of the arguement, believed to be over a drug deal.

Police say Jackson was previously arrested from a January 9, 2023 for the alleged shooting assault and attempted murder of 19-year old Gabriel Ledford of Gainesville.
