Commissioners approve self-storage facility on Cornelia Highway

The Hall County Board of Commissioners Thursday voted in unanimous approval of a self-storage facility set for a tract of land located along Cornelia Highway.

The application was submitted by Double E Properties, LLC, and is a two-part request, with the first ask being to shift the zoning of a 9.39-acre plot from Agricultural Residential and Planned Commercial Development to Light Industrial, according to county documents.

Second, the applicant requested to reduce the required transitional buffer from 50 feet to 25 feet from the left side and rear property lines.

Both applications were successful with the board during Thursday night's meeting.

The self-storage facility will be located at 0 Cornelia Highway in Commission District 3. Plans detail that the facility will consist of ten storage structures, with two three-story storage buildings. The bigger buildings will have interior access to individual storage units. The remaining eight buildings will have storage space accessed from the outside.

A single access point is planned for the development along Tribble Gap Road, according to site plans.

Commissioner Powell noted before the vote that it is not often the commission sees storage developments with architectural renderings such as the one included in the above gallery.
