Officials with Forsyth County's Elections Office have received statewide honors from Georgia Secretary of State's office.

Secretary Brad Raffensperger presented the Election Administration Golden Leader in Excellence (EAGLE) award to Forsyth County's Office of Elections on Tuesday.

The EAGLE Award recognizes innovations, achievements and best practices of election offices over safe and secure local procedures.

In a recent press release from Secretary Raffensperger's office, Forsyth County Commission Chairman Alfred John said that the county director for elections, Mandi Smith and her team, "...do outstanding work for the citizens of Forsyth County in preparation for and during election cycles. She's constantly updating her office, staff and poll workers with new technologies and training to provide the best experience possible for voters."

The launch of the new GARViS voter registration system was one of several items recognized by Secretary Raffensperger for Forsyth County's election integrity, according to the release.
