Boys basketball: EHall, Buford stay perfect; Union, Dragons win; Banks, Towns, NHall fall

HOMER, Ga. — East Hall stayed unbeaten with a tough 62-57 win over Banks County on Tuesday on the road.

It was the second win for the Vikings (3-0) over the Leopards (1-4) in the early going.

The Vikings opened the game with a 16-0 run before taking an 18-5 lead after the first quarter. But Banks County began a comeback.

The Leopards got within 33-23 by halftime and closed the gap to 45-44 heading into the fourth quarter. Banks County eventually took the lead in the final period before East Hall pulled away down the stretch.

East Hall was led by Chris Alford, Jr. with 19 points. Jamarcus Harrison and Chasen Jones each had 11 points and Yair Fajardo added 10 points. Brayden Langston added 7 points for the Vikings.

Dayden Rogers had 18 points to lead Banks County. Aaron Scott added 13 for the Leopards. 

Banks County will play host to Commerce on Friday.

East Hall next will travel to undefeated ranked Walnut Grove on Thursday to open Region 8-4A play.


UNION COUNTY 57,
TOWNS COUNTY 47

The Panthers also jumped out to a quick first quarter lead and then held off the Indians to hand them their first loss of the season.

Union County (4-1) led 14-8 and then extended its lead to 29-20 by halftime. They would take a 41-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Panthers got it done at the free throw line, going 16-of-23 for the game. Towns County (4-1) was 0-for-2 from the line for the game.

Houston Henry led Union County with 18 points, including hitting 8-of-10 free throws. Jude Ellis added 15 and Hayden Hughes 10 points for the Panthers.

Zane Floyd paced Towns county with 16 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Gage Rogers had 10 points and Tanner Cunninghham 9 points for the Indians.


BUFORD 64,
HARRISON 44

The Wolves stayed unbeaten with a win over Harrison on Tuesday at The Buford Arena.

Buford got balanced offensive attack against the Hoyas. Asa Williams led the Wolves with 10 points. Chase Robinson, Kyle Carpenter, Jackson Houston, and Torre Costin  each had 9 points for Buford (4-0).

Harrison (3-1) was paced by Jordan Howe's 13 points. Jaylen Sanders added 12 for the Hoyas.


JEFFERSON 69,
NORTH HALL 67

The Dragons rallied from a late deficit to knock off the Trojans on the road on Tuesday.

In a back-and-forth duel, Jefferson (4-1) took a 19-18 lead at the end of the first quarter and took a 32-27 lead into halftime.

But North Hall (2-2) outscored the Dragons 18-12 in the third quarter behind 9 points from Cole Hulsey to grab a 45-44 lead. But Jefferson responded in the fourth quarter.

Clay Own and Tra Harrison combined for 11 points in the final period to fuel a 25-point quarter and spark the comeback.

Drew Williamson led Jefferson with 20 points. Micah Hooper added 15, Josiah Morris had 12, and Own and Harrison finished with 9 points each for the Dragons.

Hulsey paced North Hall with 19 points. Matt Ray had 12 and Luke Sanders scored all 10 of his points in the second half for the Trojans.
