Football: Rabun Co. routs Athens Christian

TIGER, Ga. — Rabun County scored on eight of 11 possessions and cruised to a 52-7 win over Athens Christian on Friday in Region 8-A Division action.

The win moved the third-ranked Wildcats (9-0, 2-0 Region 8-A Division 1) within one win of their ninth straight region title.

They will play host to Commerce next week for a chance to capture it outright and complete their second undefeated regular season in the last four seasons.

Against Athens Christian (3-5, 0-2 Region 8-A Division 1) the Rabun County defense held the Eagles to just 162 total yards, and just 30 through the air. Athens Christian did not score until its final possession of the game after the Wildcats had built a 45-0 lead.

Senior quarterback Keegan Stover threw for 295 yards and 5 TDs, with four of those going to senior Jaden Gibson, who had 9 catches for 115 yards to add to both his state records in career receiving yards and career touchdowns. Noah Legault had 5 catches for 66 yards and 1 TD for Rabun County.

Senior running back Lang Windham had 109 yards and 1 TD rushing for the Wildcats.
