TIGER — Senior wide receiver Adriel Clark tied the all-time Georgia state record with three touchdown catches in Rabun County’s 35-0 blowout win over Model in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs Friday night.

Clark hauled in TD receptions of 54, 50, and 16 yards, part of a 5-catch, 140-yard night. He now has 27 on the season  and joins ML King’s Demarco Robinson, who had 27 in 2010.

Clark and the Wildcats (11-1) will take on Bleckley County, a 41-7 winner over Early County on Friday, in next week;s quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the Rabun defense, which continues to improve into the playoffs, yielded just 107 total yards and pitched its third shutout of the season. They have allowed just 34 points over their last six games (5.6 ppg).

The Wildcats needed two possessions to get things going as Stockton and Clark connected on a 54-yard touchdown strike on their second possession for a 7-0 lead less than three minutes into the game. Stockton made it 14-0 later in the first quarter capping a 9-play, 49-yard drive with a 12-yard scoring run.

However, it stayed that way until Stockton and Clark connected on a 50-yard bomb on the final play of the half to make it 21-0. They struck again late in the third quarter on a 16-yard TD pass to finish off a 45-yard drive.

Lang Windham, who finished with 59 yards rushing, closed the scoring with just 6 seconds left in the third quarter with an 11-yard TD run.
