CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA - Bank of America is heading for a courtroom to answer to a lawsuit filed by NationsBank shareholders seeking up to six billion dollars in damages from the coast-to-coast bank.
The shareholders say they were shortchanged in the 66 billion-dollar merger of Charlotte-based NationsBank and San Francisco-based BankAmerica into Bank of America.
The class-action lawsuit is filed on behalf of more than 300,000 NationsBank shareholders who say executives at both banks failed to disclose the financial woes besetting BankAmerica in 1998.
The four-year-old case is scheduled for a jury trial April 8 in Saint Louis.
