Several teams continued their strong start to the 2021 season on Friday night.

Buford, Cherokee Bluff, Flowery Branch, Jefferson, Lanier Christian, and West Hall all improved to 2-0 with big wins.

The Class 6A No. 1-ranked Wolves overcame a tough offensive night to hold on for a 16-3 win over Clarke Central.

Cherokee Bluff and West Hall both continue to show Region 7-3A is still plenty dangerous. The Bears rolled to a 60-21 win over Chestatee while the Spartans pulled away for a 48-21 win over East Hall at East Hall Stadium.

Class 4A No. 1 Jefferson smacked Class 6A Central Gwinnett 42-7 in Lawrenceville while No. 7 Flowery Branch whipped Dawson County 31-7 at Falcons Field.

Lanier Christian shut out Lafayette Christian 30-0 in LaGrange to stay unbeaten as well.

North Hall, however, could not get its second straight win falling to Stephens County 42-0 in a stunner at The Brickyard. North Forsyth was looking for its second straight 2-0 start but lost 19-6 to Harrison in Kennesaw.

Neither could Towns County, which dropped a 31-14 decision to Armuchee on the road. Class A-Public No. 5 Commerce also found the going tough losing to Class 4A Pickens 37-8 in Jasper.

Meanwhile, several teams picked up their first wins of the season on Friday. Gainesville routed Chattahoochee 44-0; Habersham Central beat Apalachee 27-7, and Jackson County shut out rival East Jackson 26-0.

Lumpkin County, Dawson County, White County, and East Forsyth all fell to 0-2 on the young season.
