Last week was about just making it to kickoff after months of doubt due to COVID-19. This week, it was all about wild finishes and big-time scores for several northeast Georgia's area teams.

Offense was aplenty as several area teams looked as if they were in mid-season form.

In the biggest matchup of the night, South Carolina-commit Gunner Stockton and No. 1-ranked Rabun County held off Georgia-commit Brock Vandagriff and No. 3-ranked Prince Avenue 38-31 at Frank Snyder Stadium in Tiger.

Flowery Branch and Dawson County was just as advertised in a back-and-forth offensive battle with both teams combining for 1,028 total yards of offense and 87 points, but All-AccessWDUN running back Jaizen Ellingham scored five touchdowns and rushed for 131 yards to lead the Falcons to a 45-42 win in Dawsonville.

In another wild finish, White County rallied back from 13 points down in the fourth quarter to beat eighth-ranked Hart County in the final minute, 50-47. Warrior quarterback J. Ben Haynes bounced in from 5-yards out with a minute left to lift White County to the win.

Habersham Central's Jackson Clouatre rushed for a record 305 yards in the Raiders 56-35 win over Apalachee on the road, while North Cobb shocked Buford, and the state, knocking off the defending Class 5A championships, 21-7.

Cherokee Bluff tallied 413 total yards, and Jayquan Smith rushed 13 times for 113 yards and three scores in a 49-14 rout of cross-country rival Chestatee at War Eagle Stadium.

Union County took the lead early against Commerce, but the Tigers reeled off three straight scores to take the lead and roll to a 32-14 win at home.

In other action, Towns County picked up its first win of the season with a 28-14 win over Bethlehem Christian. Jefferson routed Central Gwinnett 61-7. East Hall picked up its first win of the season over cross-county rival West Hall, 30-22, in Oakwood.
