Vikings rally to beat West Hall 30-22

By AccessWDUN Staff

OAKWOOD — It took a few minutes for East Hall to find its footing at Spartan Field and when they did, they set the Hot Gates on fire.

The Vikings (1-0) rallied from a 14-point deficit in the first quarter, 445 yards of offense to knock off West Hall, 30-22, at Spartan Field on Friday.

"I’m so proud of Macere (Walker), Mon Tabor, Marcus Holmberg, Caleb Pruitt and so many of our guys that never came off the field and showed so much heart and composure," East Hall coach Michael Perry said. "Our O-line protected Clete (Cooper) and allowed him to take advantage of the coverages West Hall was playing."

Cooper connected for 400 yards through air and three touchdowns. Walker caught 275 of those yards and a score. Tabor had 85 yards and two touchdowns and 45 yards rushing.

The Vikings will host Franklin County on Friday, while West Hall (0-2) will travel to Johnson in the Battle of Oakwood. Kickoff for both games is 7:30 p.m.
